Mburo has for a long time faced a conflict between animals and society that is to say the Ankole people. These use the land for farming as they were originally cattle keepers. Known for their long-horned cows and Bulls. Legend has it that Mburo takes its name after a brother called Mburo who was within the area that presently is occupied by Lake Mburo.
